Canada Edge Out Venezuela in International Friendly at Chase Stadium

This past Tuesday, Nov. 18, Chase Stadium hosted an international friendly between Venezuela and Canada, with The Reds ultimately edging out La Vinotinto 2-0 in an exciting battle on the pitch.

As both outfits faced off for their fourth all-time meeting, the match started with the Canadians applying high pressure to Venezuela’s defensive end. In the 23rd minute, Ismael Kone opened the scoreline for The Reds as he sniffed out a deflection near the penalty spot to bury it past Venezuela's shotstopper Jose Contreras. For the remainder of the first half, Canada kept creating chances but were not able to double their lead going to halftime.

The match’s intensity was reflected during the second half, with Venezuela’s David Martiniez and Canada’s goalscorer Kone being shown red cards. Despite La Vinotinto gaining momentum during the second half, Canada ultimately ended up finding their second of the night after a swift race down the right flank and a low cross from Niko Sigur found Promise David who showed his composure to score the last goal of the night in the 83rd minute.

Canada’s first visit to Chase Stadium was one to remember as they claimed the victory ahead of their participation as a host nation in the upcoming FIFA World Cup 2026. On the other hand, Venezuela registered yet another visit to Chase Stadium after having played against the USMNT in January, and facing off against Italy in March 2024 and Colombia in December 2023.

Chase Stadium’s electric atmosphere proved once again that the Inter Miami CF facilities are a top spot for international fútbol after hosting numerous international matchups in 2025. The year kicked off with a clash between the USMNT and Venezuela and the FC Series match between Brazilian Série A giants Sao Paulo and CR Flamengo in January, followed by Guatemala taking on Honduras in a Central American battle in March, and The Beautiful Game celebrity match returning to South Florida for a second occasion in June.
