This past Saturday, Nov. 15, Chase Stadium hosted an international friendly between Colombia and New Zealand in front of an electric sold-out crowd, with Los Cafeteros ultimately edging out the All Whites 2-1 in a thrilling battle on the pitch.
Fans present at Chase Stadium were treated to a competitive contest between Colombia and New Zealand as they prepare for their participation for the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup. Gustavo Puerta opened the scoring in the third minute of action for Colombia to pull ahead, with the midfielder notably scoring in what marked his debut for his country’s national team. Ben Old struck an equalizer for New Zealand in the 80th minute, before a late goal by Johan Carbonero in the 88th minute restored the lead and secured the victory for the South Americans.
The match saw Colombia’s national team visit South Florida and Inter Miami CF’s home ground for the fourth time. With the win, Los Cafeteros extended their undefeated record at Chase Stadium after previously earning a 2-1 win over Honduras in January 2022 and defeating fellow South American side Paraguay 2-0 in November of that same year, followed by a 1-0 win against Venezuela in a friendly in November 2023.
For New Zealand, meanwhile, the occasion marked their first visit to Chase Stadium.
